On the basis of summarizing and drawing on the
research results related to the teaching of Chinese as a second language, and
combining the author’s many years of teaching experience, Chinese as a
Second Language Essentials Teaching (2nd edition) systematically introduces
the basics of the language elements of Chinese as a second language, such as
phonetics, vocabulary, grammar, and Chinese characters, and, through a large
number of examples, introduces the specific teaching methodologies, teaching
techniques, and issues that should be paid attention to in the teaching
practice.
Mao Yue is a doctor of literature and a professor at
Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). She was awarded the Second Prize
of National Teaching Achievement Award of Higher Education, the First Prize of
Beijing Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award, and the National
Outstanding Teacher Award of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. Her
research mainly focuses on the theory, methodology and teaching materials of
teaching Chinese as a second language. Professor Mao has published the
monographs A Study On the Special-Purpose and Intensive Teaching Model for
CSL, Chinese as a Second Language Essentials Teaching, and Chinese
as a Second Language Teaching - Essentials Teaching (co-authored), and
edited series books such as 360 Standard Sentences in Chinese Conversations, New Target Chinese Spoken Language, Short-Term Chinese Listening, Read Chinese Everyday, Great Wall Chinese, and Say It Now: A
Complete Handbook of Spoken Chinese. She has presided over and participated
in many research projects and published many papers. She has taught at the East Asian Languages and Cultures of Columbia University, George Washington University and Georgia State
University.
