The 12th International Conference on Chinese as
a Second Language (ICCSL) was held in Beijing International Studies University
(BISU) in October, 2015, co-hosted by BISU and BLCU. The topic was “A
Multi-perspective on Pedagogical Grammar and Grammar Teaching
in Chinese as a Second Language”. All the papers included in this book center
around this topic, paying close attention to the cutting-edge problems in the
current field of CFL research and teaching.
Professor Pan Xianjun, member of the Chinese Language Globalization
Branch of the Society on Modernization of Chinese Language, member of the
International Society for Chinese Language Teaching, member of Chinese
Linguistics Society, has been engaged in CFL teaching since 1994. Prof. Pan was
sent to teach Chinese in INALCO (France) during 1999-2002 by the Chinese
government. Pan has been the interviewer of several screening tests of Hanban’s
expatriate teachers and volunteer teachers, has offered courses such as CSL
teaching, cognitive linguistics, and methodology of linguistic studies to postgraduates,
and has taught international students various linguistic courses. Pan is
currently the dean of the School of Chinese of Beijing International Studies
University. Pan’s main research interests include CFL teaching and L1 Chinese
studies. His main works include Classification
of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, The Redundancy Phenomena in Modern Chinese, A Learner's Chinese Dictionary: Illustrations of the Usages (co-editor), Go for Chinese (Intermediate
and Advanced Level), and more than 40 academic papers.
