“A Series
of Books by Scholars at BLCU” collects the research findings of professors of
Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). Volume 1 of this series
includes the academic papers of 15 professors, such as Cui Xiliang, Zhao Jinming
and Cao Zhiyun and was published to commemorate the 50thAnniversary
of BLCU. It was well-received after its publication.
This is a book of the second volume in this series
which explores the phonetic evolution rules in Chinese dialects from three
perspectives, i.e., Chinese phonetics, Anhui dialects, and the Chinese history
and grammar. It introduces the characteristics and distribution of the dialects
in Anhui Province and makes further explorations of the commonly-seen grammatical
phenomena in Chinese dialects, such as “~看”、“个”、“做” and Adj. + Complement of Degree with Prof. Zhao
Rixin’s 19 articles included.
Zhao Rixin, born in
Jixi of Huizhou in February 1964, is a PhD in Literature. He now works as a
Professor and PhD Supervisor at Faculty of Linguistic Science, Beijing Language
and Culture University and School of Humanities, Tsinghua University.
Prof. Zhao got his
bachelor’s degree from Chinese Department of Anhui Normal University in 1986,
and got his master’s degree and PhD degree from Chinese Department of Shandong
University in 1989 and 1998 respectively.
Prof. Zhao
is interested in Chinese dialects and sociolinguistics. He currently holds the
following titles: Dean of Faculty of Linguistic Science, Beijing Language and
Culture University; PhD Supervisor of Tsinghua University; Supervisor of China
Sociolinguistic Society and Beijing Language Society; Standing Member ofNushuResearch Committee of Chinese Folk
Literature and Art Association, and Executive Deputy Editor ofJournal of Language Teaching and Research.
Prof. Zhao has
authored/co-authored five monographs, includingDictionary of Dialects in Jixi,Studies
of Dialects in Huizhou,Studies of
Chuqu Dialects in Wu Chinese,Survey
of Lanxi and Dongyang Dialects in Wu Chinese,Records of Dialects in Jimo. He has published more than 30 articles
inStudies of the Chinese Language,Dialects,Linguistic Researchesand other journals.
Prof. Zhao has won
the Honorary National Book Award and the First Prize in National Dictionary
Award. He was also one of the “New Century Excellent Talents of MOE” in 2006.
