Entrusted by the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation, Ministry of Education and China Scholarship Council and based on the 10-year practice of pre-university programs, Tianjin University makes extensive studies and compiles this book. It includes the syllabuses of Chinese for science and technology, mathematics, physics, and chemistry, as well as frequently used words, expressions, chemical compounds and list of elements frequently used in science, physics, and chemistry. 

School of International Education, Tianjin University is one of the pilot projects that China Scholarship Council selected to award Chinese Government Scholarship to international students taking pre-university programs in China. Starting 2005, it began to train pre-university students and gained abundant teaching, research and administrative experience in Chinese language education for students majoring in science and engineering, thus constructing the first integrated education pattern for international beginner-level students taking one-year intensive Chinese language program before majoring in science and engineering.
